Merging ledger accounts via SQL Dbase

(0) ShareShare

Hello - I have many old ledger accounts which I would like to clean up. I could access directly the SQL Dbase and reclass manually the old ledger transactions (table ledgertrans). After that, once the ledgers are empty, I can manually delete the ledger accounts in AX.  Obviously i can also make a query to avoid doing it all manually.

What is the risk of doing the above?

Regards.

Johan

If you know clearly about the table structure, you can delete through SQL. But, I am not sure that it is best approach.

There is some functionality available for cleaning purpose. Please check that it is matching your requirement.

Why you are not using IDMF for this purpose?

Dear Sir - I know how to handle SQL but have never worked in the IDMF?

    Where do I start?

Thanks sir. This seems for deleting journals - not merging data. Correct?

    Hi Johan,

if you are clear with ledger integration functionality, It is ok otherwise it impact will be high.

See ledger account is the heart of ERP. CAO has used several place across the module like ItemGroup, Posting profile, Tax setup, Subledger, Project posting and so on. Do you know which ledger account are you going to delete those are not attached in any running functionality in your application. You are deleting data from SQl not from application so it won't validate business logic during deletion. Do you know those account does not mapped in your trial balance.

IDMF is used for data purging as well as data archive. You can purging the data conditional base also.

Hope, It is cleared your question.

    Thanks

I thought you want to clean up old accounts and related transactions.

What you are trying to do is not recommended and is very risky as Roy mentioned, But still if you want to go ahead and transactions are only Ledger Journals than you have to change GeneralAccountEntry table as well and also don't forget to rebuild Dimension Sets.
