Trial balance not showing transactions against the Financial dimension set

Hi All,

Under GL -> Common -> Trial balance list page, I am unable to see the transactions for financial dimension set which just have Main account in it. I clicked on the parameter button and applied the following date range

From Date : 07/01/2013

To Date : 06/30/2014

But it is not showing any data. The reason is there is no data with the above date range in DimensionFocusBalance table. Please note that I can see transactions for the above date ranges in GL -> Voucher transactions form. So I go to the financial dimension set form and tried to rebuild balances by selecting the Financial dimension set 'MainAccount'. But it is not doing anything, the data in DimensionFocusBalance stays as it is. I was expecting it to rebuild balances i.e. create records in DimensionFocusBalance table, so that I can see the records under Trial balance for the date range.

Does anyone know what could be the reason that rebuild balances function is not populating DimensionFocusBalance table with appropriate data as per the transactions in General ledger ?

Hi Baber,

Please check if you started the rebuild of the balances as batch job. Then it looks like it is not doing anything directly. The background process on the server will then do the work.

Thanks Andre for your response. Actually, I recently completed the data upgrade checklist on the system, so I haven't set up any batch job related to this. why it is not updating the balances when I am running it manually? Do you have any clue?

Hi Baber,

When starting the Rebuild of balances there is an option to start it in batch. This could be done by accident. So please check this. I have never seen this task failing. Not running on the client or using the batch.

Hi Andre,

The batch jobs for rebuild balances was already there under Batch jobs form, but set to Ended after count 1, so it was showing with Ended status. So instead of setting it up as a batch job again, I was rebuilding the balances manually to test if I am getting the correct results under GL-> Trial balance.

Now I posted two transactions to ledger and after rebuilding balances, I can see those under Trial balance, but other transactions which are in the same period not showing under Trial balance.

Please note that, before I posted above transactions, recently one of our consultant went to GL -> Periodic -> Financial year close -> Opening transactions form to create opening transactions and the checkbox 'Delete close of year transactions during transfer' was checked. So I believe that, after this the previous year transactions have been deleted from DimencionFocusBalance table and hence it is not showing under Trial balance. Do you think it could be the case, as I am not much familiar with this area, can you please confirm if this could be the reason ?

Hello Barber,

The parameter you mentioned above should not delete / move data in a way that they cannot be identified from the Trial Balance anymore.

Can you double check if you can identify any data if you select the "closing transactions" and/or "include opening transaction amounts in detail" checkboxes available from the Trial Balance parameter form?

If the Trial Balance list page still does not show any data can you compare whether the "summary Trial Balance" and "detailed Trial Balance" reports available under GL/Reports/Transactions show the data you are looking for?

Hi Ludwig,

Thanks for your response. I already selected that checkbox you mentioned, but it doesn't make any difference. As the data is not present in DimensionFocusBalance table, it will not show in the trial balance as well. Not sure why the data is not getting populated in this table.

Unfortunately, the SSRS reports are not being setup in the system, so I can't check that.

Hello Baber,

The only Thing I could think of might be the following hotfix.

KB 3135076Trial balance list page doesn't show the closing transaction's amount after running the Fiscal Year Close

Probably take a look to see whether this might fix your issue.

Other than that I would suggest / hope that other community members might be able to give you some additional hints on what to do in order to get this fixed.

I had a similar issue which I solved following this link:

I had no consistency data on TB with two different dimension sets, but not with all (other dimensions sets worked properly).

I executed the job, rebuilt balances, and at the end the data on TB have became correct again.
