Report Preview or Print only!

ReportReport

Hi all,

We tried to customize the Report 408 (Purchase - Receipt) changing the layout. The client want the report to be printed after the preview. When I analyzed the code, whenever there is a CurrReport.PREVIEW in the code, it doesn't allow to preview and then print the document. Any work arounds available?

hi nareshwar, from the preview printing is not possible. sorry. easiest workaround: save the report as pdf using saveaspdf, then copy the created pdf doc from the server to client pc, there open the pdf doc using the .net class Process to "preview" the document in your pdf viewer. from there you can then print the document.

Unfortunately with that statement in the report we don't have option to preview and print, you need to take that CurrReport.PREVIEW statement from the report for them to preview and print.

One other idea is to use the current action print to preview the report and add another new action on the page which will directly print the report without any request page.

    Hi Jonathan,

Thank you for the valuable idea. We are trying to convince the client do the preview and print separately. If not let me discuss with you about the workaround.

    Thanks again.

    Hi Suresh,

I tried to remove the CurrReport.PREVIEW, but then again we are losing another important element, which is the count of the printed document, which later will allow us to identify the duplicate print outs.

Thank you for the feedback, we are negotiating with the client to do the preview and print separately since the application logic does exactly what it has to.

    Hi Roakman,

Try running Report 408. The print functionality is disabled from the preview screen.

another more simple idea: install a pdf printer on the client system.set that as default printer. then always when you print in nav you print to the pdf printer, the pdf app is then started. so you have the preview and can print. you could also set a printer for each report in nav: report-printer-selection.
