QuickBooks Migration to D365 for Financials Issues

Hello -

We have a customer that needs to migrate their QuickBooks data to Financials in order to go live. However, the system is not allowing this, even following the steps on Assisted Setup.

The migration start works fine:

But, about 10 minutes in this screen pops up and 'stops' the migration when you have to hit Resume:

Therefore, we currently have no way of getting their data from QuickBooks to Financials. Please advise?

In a test system I have imported the migration template several times to the same database.  This means you can load the GL tab with data and import the template and the system just imports the GL accounts. You can then load the Vendors, Customers and Items separately with repeated uploads of the template, each time with just one tab of the spreadsheet populated.  This might decrease the volume of data involved to a level that you do not hit any timeouts.

    Jamie,

You should consider calling Don DeCarlo at DeCarlo Software.  I think he would be the best source of information.  His number is 412-945-0063.  He is on US Eastern time.

    Good luck!

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for the reference to DeCarlo Software. I think the website has moved here: decarlosoftwareinc.azurewebsites.net

I see on this site a utility to import items from Dynamics SL. However, it appears to cover only Customers, Vendors, Items and Accounts. Do you know if it is also possible to import transaction history? In my case I am looking at importing data from NAV, though that doesn't really matter too much as long as I can get the data into Excel.

    Thanks again,

    PJK

Closing the loop on this.  There was a performance issue that was resolved through a support ticket with Microsoft for this.

    Thanks,

    Chris

    Ryan,

You should consider contacting Don DeCarlo of DeCarlo Software.  He has a QB to D365 for Financials conversion utility that actually does much more than the standard Microsoft-created utility that you found on the "Services and Extensions".  Don's website is located at decarlsosoftware.com.  I used the same utility you did, and was underwhelmed, to say the least.  It simply brought over customers, vendors, inventory items, and G/L accounts (with incorrect income statement balances).  It didn't bring over shipping addresses, open invoices, history, etc.

    Good luck!

Yes, we understand it is a timeout error but we need a solution so our customer an go live.

Our file is only 4 MB. The normal QuickBooks Pro company file averages 25+ MB so we should not be running into Timeout issues with such a small file.

Agree with Chris, to me it also looks as a time-out. How big is your data?

    Hello Ryan,

It would appear that you're running into a timeout.  How big is the .iif file you're attempting to import?  Do you know how many accounts, customers, vendors and items we're talking about here?

    Thanks,

    Chris
