alternative parts in manufacturing

Hi there,,

I think we finally have found out why we keep finding stuck allocations...we think it is the use of alternative parts.

Although I am stugglingto find some documentation on how to use the alternative parts in the manufacturing process....

Is there any??

The manufacturing process documentation is extremely lacking to say the least...the whole module seems to be very buggy.

    Hi Tami,

    I'm not very familiar with the MFG module, but you may want to have a look at the training course material (8817A), that should be available for download on Customer Source.

    mbs.microsoft.com/.../student-training-materials

    If you can't find it yourself, ask your partner, which certainly has access to the guides in PDF format.

    Fellow Dynamics GP blogger Waqas Butt has posted a MFG flow-chart a few years ago:

    That may help to understand some processes.

    Hi Tami, were you able to get more info on the mfg. module and how alternates work?

    Alternative items are added to the BOM with the original item referencing the Assigned Alternates and the alternative Iem set as alternative in the BOM
