Transfer fixed assets

Hi,

I'm trying to use the Transfer fixed assets functionality to change the accounts where the transactions are posted. This comes from an alternative way I'm testing to track assets in progress. What I have done is I have created an asset group that posts into the assets in progress main account. Once all the purchase orders have been posted against it and we want to start depreciating what I want to do is first to use the Transfer fixed assets functionality which if I'm not wrong should change the main accounts where the transactions are booked:

But after posting the above screen this is the posting I get:

So, nothing is posted to the "Transfer to account".

My idea was to use this to transfer the postings from the in progress account to a normal asset account and then change the group of the asset:

Anyone knows what I am doing wrong?

Thanks!

    RE: Transfer fixed assets

    Hi Capslock

I have the same understanding that saurabh has. that is, the FA transfer option is used for doing findim transfers.

what you need is possibly the fixed asset split feature that allows you shifting and posting your wip to a newly created FA.

    please test this one.

    thanks

    Hi,

In my opinion this is designed for transferring from one dimension to another nut your right if option given for selecting account then it should have impact.

May be you can raise service request and get clarified.

    Hi Saurabh,

Thank you it is true that if use inventory to asset journals I could achieve the same thing but I would like to understand why do you have in the form the possibility to select from one main account to another and then it doesn't work? I want to understand if I'm doing something wrong there or if there's something not working or if the fields are thought for something else? Any ideas? Thanks

    Hi Ludwig,

Thank you but I would like to avoid using the project module at all, although I also think it's a good and valid option.

I would like to get the functionality of Transfer fixed assets working or at least knowing why it does not work. Any ideas?

    Hi caps lock

have you tried using investment type projects for this purpose?

they can help you tracking and posting to wip and once all costs are posted you can move them to a fixed asset

    best regards

    RE: Transfer fixed assets

    Hi CapsLok,

As far as i know, transfer should be used in case of changing the financial dimension, since in your case it is same thats why it did not change any thing.

    For your scenario:

    1. You should  have kept the stock in your inventory and classified as CWIP (Capital Work in progress)  using one single item code.

    2. After receiving complete stock from all purchase orders , you could have Acquired the asset using "Inventory to Asset " Journal where you can select all the items which you want to capitalize together and also mark all the purchase order so that it picks up the purchase price.
