Sales order import

hi all

In standard AX is there any way that we can create a batch job to import sales orders (header and details)?

Preferably from a txt file into AX in a job that we can schedule as we will.

The Standard AX data import does not work so well, as there does not seem to be a scheduler, and also we have to import the header and detail separately

any advice appreciated

mal

    Hi Mal

If you speak about AX 2012 you can use DMF ( technet.microsoft.com/.../jj225591.aspx ).

Otherwise, you can create a Runbasebatch class, reading the txt files and using the SalesAutoCreate class for create header and lines.

You can find more info about AX Import\Export data Tools at technet.microsoft.com/.../aa548629.aspx

    Hi Mal,

You mention that the standard AX data import does not work well. Are you referring to the Data Import/Export Framework (DIXF) or the option in  System adminstration menu which works with definition groups?

DIXF supports periodic jobs. You can also configure Application Integration Framework and have a "translation" from TXT to XML first. Then AIF can process the files.

    hi

i am referring to the Data import / export framework,

so if i have a file, with sales header and sales detail information, you are saying i should be able to use dixf? i have not seen the ability to schedule either - i must look harder!

AIF i have not heard off, so i must research this as well

    thanks

    mal

    Hi mal,

Within DIXF when starting the execution, there is an option to run it in batch. You can then also schedule the recurrence. Test it carefully as the execution history might be an obstacle. You can also consider running the Execution clean up first, before importing new files.

I have not done this scenario myself before.
