can Dynamics 365 for finance and operations on premises authenticate with AAD instead of local AD ? or ADFS?

Hi Everyone,

we have a client that is asking if we can have the on-premises UAT and production to authenticate with AAD instead of local active directory ? is it possible to make this happen ? and how ?

Hi Mohammad,

It is possible to sync the AD with AAD. Why do they want to go for on-premise environment if they want to use Azure AD which is a cloud service?

Please see the docs, if you mean Ax users, the on-premises application works with AD FS only.

Thanks a lot Andre for your reply, the customer wants AAD for there on-premises, as they want to create the users on AAD and not on local AD to authenticate with dynamics, they have external users that they dont wish to create on there local AD.
