Learning DevOps

Hello guys,

I'm sorry if my question a bit out of this forum, but want to seek your advice, if I want to start learning DevOps, but typically not only for F&O but also Power Platform, what is the correct or best module to start ? or what is the learning path for me in relates to  Microsoft Learning -> https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/browse/?WT.mc_id=webupdates_GEP_Powerapps-web-wwl%2F&filter-products=dev&products=azure-devops

Since there is so many modules and quite similar topic make me have doubt on where I should choose ?

The focus that I expect is for a task like creating F&O deployment and Power Platform deployment (which nowadays relates each other), Build pipelines and Release, also to understand Repos, Git repos, Artifact.

If I saw the DevOps Engineer path it seems it is divided into two roles : Administrator and Developer ->

So I'm not so sure by looking at my expectation, is it more on Administrator or is it Developer ?

Hope any one can advice me which path I should take and which module to start with.

Thanks

DevOps includes - by definition - both development and operations.

Things like version control systems are related more to developers, but when you have code developed, you want to build it and deploy it.

Also note that that Azure DevOps (as a product) can do much more - it includes work planning and tracking, test planning, test execution and so on.

I think it is more on the build and deploy part, with test planning and execution, not the version control. If it is a version control, more on the version of the release product, not version of the code inside.

For the deploy, it will be such as handing Dev-Test-Prod environment, moving between those environments, these will need to include not only F&O environment but also Power Platform environment in other word the CE/Dataverse environment.

    Thanks.

If you don't do the "Dev" part, then your build pipeline has nothing to build and it can't produce anything for the release pipeline. You really need to have a source control system, know how to use it (e.g. how to design branches to support your deployment strategy) and you need something inside.

It's fine if you're interested just in a particular process, but keep in mind that DevOps is more than build & deploy.

    RE: Learning DevOps

The "Dev" part will be basically supplied by the developers, they will do the check in, while my task will be creating those Build pipelines, and Release pipeline, manage the repo, artifact all that, deploy to those stages environment. Again I must say this thing expected not only F&O side but Power Platform side as well.

My confusion about that DevOps Engineer path is between those 2 division:

    1. Azure Administrator Associate is learning about: AAD, Subscription, RBAC, Manage Storage, Virtual Network etc

    2. Azure Developer Associate is learning about: Web apps, Azure function, CosmosDB, develop event-based/message based solution etc

Meanwhile the last stage : DevOps Engineer Expert is learning about DevOps transformation, Git, Azure pipeline, release strategy, continues deployment.

It is seems the last stage is all I need as it is more close to the expected task. So while the last stage is more similar, but the pre-requisites (Administrator or Developer) looks not really a big matter to me. So, am wondering if I can just go with the last stage instead ?

    Thanks.
