AX 2012 RTM - Visual Studio Tools component install error

Dear,

When trying to install the Visual Studio Tools component onto a Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 we get to see the error message:

MSI (s) (80:B8) [11:46:44:532]: Other Patches:
MSI (s) (80:B8) [11:46:44:563]: Internal Exception during install operation: 0xc0000005 at 0x000007FEFD1A35E1.
MSI (s) (80:B8) [11:46:44:563]: WER report disabled for non-console install.
MSI (s) (80:B8) [11:46:44:563]: Internal MSI error. Installer terminated prematurely.

MSI (s) (80:B8) [11:46:52:407]: MainEngineThread is returning 1603
MSI (s) (80:74) [11:46:52:407]: No System Restore sequence number for this installation.
Unexpected Termination

Please advise on how to investigate further or how to resolve the issue.

Other AX 2012 RTM components, such as 'client' or 'management utilities' were already installed on this same server in the past and installing new components such as 'help server' still works. It seems Windows related to me.

The only prerequisite which returns a warning, no error, is 'Microsoft SQL Server developer tools', but this has nothing to do with the error i presume.

    Which version of visual Studio installed on you machine

    Please review the system requirement document for AX 2012 RTM and verify if you have all the pre requites installed

    Hello,

    The hotfix mentioned by Ivan was not required.

    To fix this issue run the wizard (.msp) located at:

    Disk:\Software\AX 2012 Installations\Updates\Ax 6 Build 1108.6134 - RTM hotfix\msi\components64\components64.msp

    Choose Repair to.. repair the components, retry the installation and this fixed the issue.
