New Company

Hi expert, we want to create a new company, but I have some issues and I need your advice.

1. After I create a new company, all of the tables are blank, but for some tables such as the country/region etc,

the data should be the exact ones  as those of our current company. Is this the only way to use the dataport to export from our current company and import to the table of the new company ?

2. How about the database? If we don't create a new database, the two companies will share one database, is it good? If create a new database, we have to switch back and forth from Nav Server each time for different company.

Please advise! Thank you very much!

Thank you expert! I tried to follow the link msdn.microsoft.com/.../jj128096%28v=nav.70%29.aspx

But when copy company data, it has error: The company does not exist. Identification fields and values: Name ='XXX '. But that is the correct company name. Please advise! Thank you!

    Hi,

Is the message for the source company or destination company?

    Hi Snoppy,

For that you can use Rapid Start to Export Data from The Selected Table from one Company and then Import it back on new Company Created.

If you want to create a "blank" company and insert some common data like "setup, chart of accounts, etc." you may use the rapidstart import/export tools.

You can also use de functionality of "copy company", but this creates an exact copy of an esisting company with the current data to another company name (that's very useful for testing purposes).

    Good luck!!

Thank you all experts! This time I tried  the configure packages from RapidStart Services. After all the steps were done and while exporting, I had an error below:

This message is for C/AL programmers: A call to System.Xml.XmlIdDocument.DocumentElement failed with this message: Parameter mismatch.

    Please advise! Thank you!

sounds like a failed customization of a rapid start component.

    How to revolve this?

I just tried another way and created a new company from NAV Development Environment. After the new company was created, I designed XMLports to export data from the existing company and imported them into the new company for some tables, e.g. table 9 Country/Region, table 308. They are good so far. But when I imported the table 309(No. Series Line), it has an error: "Should be a valid year. The No. Series Line already exists, identification fields and values Series Code, line no=10000"

How to fix this error? If I use the XMLports, is it OK? Thank you very much!

In No Series Line table primary key is "Series Code ,Line No."

Check is there any duplicated entries available in the file you trying to import and also check the date format of your computer and the date format in the upload file is same.
