Look-up field' value disappears upon re-opening

Hello everyone, I've been trying to find a solution for this annoying error for a few weeks with no luck, and I'm hoping you can help me!

I have a lookup field that gets filtered out based on its parent field's selection, and it's working fine at record creation/initial save.

However once I reopen the created record, the saved value shows up for a split second before disappearing (as seen in the video).

Any idea what's wrong here? I'm totally out of ideas..

Thanks!

    Hello User,

It’s possible that the issue is occurring because the parent lookup field is being filtered without handling null conditions.

To resolve this, please consider adding the following condition to your logic:

    1. If both fields contain data, skip the filtering for the child lookup field.
    2. Additionally, if you have filtered the lookup on Form Load then ensure this logic is applied on Form Load as well.

    Thank you,
    Amit Katariya

    Thank you, Amit!

I managed to fix the issue by removing the custom lookup component that I was using, now everything is working well.

However, since you mentioned it, I'll take a look at the filter on form load to see if it's gonna fix the issue.. any tips where to start looking for this? I don't remember seeing a place with such option.

    Thanks again.

If there is a parent child relationship between this lookups then you can use OOB Lookup filtering which will show related records of the parent lookup.

Thanks! I have setup the filtering and it works well; I just don't really like the way the OOB lookup component works, I was looking for a simple dropdown menu that does the job, and hence used this PCF

    Lookup as Dropdown

It looks great, and one of the 2 dropdowns I used it on work perfectly (the parent one), while the child doesn't.
