Problem: I am having trouble getting AX 2012 to allow users to attach simple notes to records.
I am using MS Dynamics AX 2012 R2, kernel 6.2.1000.6189, application 6.2.1000.4051.
I have been using the instructions in this link:
http://technet.microsoft.com/EN-US/library/dn636897.aspx
- Activate document management - Yes, the checkbox is checked; Document Handling is active.
- Specify a document archive directory - Yes one is provided.
- Specify number sequences - Yes, if you go to Organization Administration\Setup\Document Management\Document Management Parameters there is a number sequence for Document file counter and another for ID.
- Specify file types - Yes, there are a bunch of file types and they look fine.
- Configure integration with Office Addins - No. According to TechNet this is optional and I am not trying to create integration. I am trying to create SIMPLE NOTES.
- Create document types - Yes, there is a document type called "Note" that has {Class="Simple Note"; Group="Note"}
- Create content types - Yes, I have a bunch of different content types.
- Setup Document Management settings for AIF - No. TechNet listed this as optional as well. If document management ever actually works... maybe.
The result:
If I go to a record such as a sales quotation, sales quotation line, released product, etc. I get no response. If I highlight a record and open the File -> Command -> Document Handling... well, I can't because the menu item Document Handling is disabled so no response there. If I open the record in edit I cannot add attachments there either. Clicking the attachments button on the action pane does nothing; no spinning blue ball, no info log, no visible changes. The attachments button in the status bar appears to be disabled.
What am I missing here?
