Good self paced (not classroom) Hands on training for D365 finance developer role?

Hello,

Besides the very kind offering of Microsoft here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/finance/get-started/learning-catalog-developer can anyone suggest some good in depth hands on training books that have you work through exercises to get as much hands on experience as possible?

Note, there are some books out there, but I can't list them here, the system will auto-moderate and delete the posting.

Thanks again for any possible suggestions.

I wholeheartedly agree.  I'm in a unique situation where there's no-one else here who's a D365 developer.  We have developer's using different technologies, but the D365 setup and methods are foreign to them. So to pick up developing for D365 by one's self is a bit of a challenge, not impossible, but a bit of a challenge.

Best Regards and have a better than good day!

Based on my personal experience on the job training is best to learn real problems and make you competent. In the past, we trained our graduates ensuring they complete MS learn documentation & Labs and then we gave real requirements from Customers (Old requirements). If you find any book that you are looking for, please update here.

    Hello Mohit,

While the MS offerings do give a nice tour through the required technologies and practices, there is not nearly enough labs.  I've done deep systems training like this before for a leading PLM system and know that to really learn there needs to be lots more labs and the labs need to be much more in depth. Most are very superficial.

So, MS Learn: Definitely a great resource, and a good start, _but_ I think anyone would be hard pressed to say they were competent at a role after doing just the MS Learn content.

But it needs 10 times more labs and the labs need to be 5 time deeper in content in my opinion.  I say this based on doing over 100 hours of that training so far.

Hi Jim, No idea about training books but Microsoft Learn covers lot of topics for F&O development with practice labs
