FRX question? I have 2 companies, company A and B. I want to pull the expense accounts under company A and divide by the number of units sold by both Company A & B. I tried it in changing the tree structure to @ANY company, it did not work. Any suggestions?

    Hi Steve,

Have you tried column formats? 5 columns - 1. Actual figures from the expense accounts, 2. Unist from company A. 3. units from company B, 4. Calculated - Add columns 2 and 3, 5. Calculated - Divide column 4 by column 1. Use the Reporting Units restriction on columns to dictate which company the data is coming from.

    Ian.

    Ian,

Thanks for getting back to me on this. it might work. Here are  couple more things that make this further complicated:

    1) We want to a total per unit at the bottom as a row, would that be possible with the column suggestion you laid out above? In other words, We want to see per unit in the row below the related expense item as opposed to columns.

    2) If company A has sub divisions such as 1, 2,3 and 4 and I can pull the expenses by &&&&&-000-4??? where 4??? indicates sub division code in the tree set-up, however if the units in Company A are recorded to 00100-000-4000, everytime I set a tree:&&&&&-000-41??, I will not capture those units even though I capture the expenses. In other words units are kind of sub divison by themselves. I tried to create a units tree, but I could not figure out how to make it pull just the accounts of 00100-000-4000.

Please let me know if you have any thoughts?

    Thank you -Steve
