Hi,

Once i ran the release to warehouse batch job, if inventory is not available or not found, system tries to create shipment and will throw the warning message work is not created.

Later few days when Inventory is available, what's the process to automatically to create picking work, because system now showing as 'All load lines are release to warehouse'.

There seems to be an improvement available to selected customers:

    Hi

First point - you cannot Release to warehouse if there is not enough inventory (since Release to warehouse requires a reservation). Why do you have inventory for 1000's of sales orders, but 50% of that inventory cannot be found by your Sales location directives?

Once you do get a Shipment which is not on a wave, but has no work, I am not a big fan of any of the solutions, which I just wrote about on this thread:

My current favourite method for dealing with this scenario is to use Location directive failures to allow D365 to create Sales order work, even if inventory cannot be found. This will cause you to get Work with no Pick Location. You can configure a special Work template to catch this 'Sales work with no location'. When you get work that is created with this special work template, you know something has gone wrong. Use it as notice to fix the inventory. When the inventory is fixed, cancel the Work, and from the Work screen, press Related information -> Load -> Transportation -> Load planning workbench -> Release -> Release to warehouse.

    Eugen,

    Appreciate for your quick response.

If i'm releasing to warehouse by using batch job, daily 1000's of sales orders will be released to warehouse. Lets assume that 50% of orders have no inventory, system will try to create shipment and wave and then it will not create work because of lack of inventory.

For orders work not created, do we need to go manually and cancel the wave and shipment to again release to warehouse.

You have to close the previous Wave by picking what's there and knocking out the lines with no stock, or just by deleting the wave (you may need to cancel the work if any work was still created). Then re-release the order.
