Can anyone please discribe me the purpose of Operations layer
Thanks in advance
Hi Subashini,
A fixed asset is often depreciated in different ways for different purposes. Depreciation for tax purposes is calculated by using current tax rules to achieve the highest possible depreciation before taxes, but depreciation for reporting purposes is calculated according to accounting laws and standards. The various kinds of depreciation are calculated and recorded separately in the posting layers.
Please refer to this article from MS for greater understanding.

Thanks.
There are three posting layers for transactions.
Current is the default layer, which is used for transactions that are a part of the periodic financial reporting.
Operations is used for other transactions that are a part of the periodic financial reporting for internal purposes.
Taxis used for transactions that are not a part of the external or internal reporting, but for recording special tax transactions, such as tax depreciation for fixed assets.
