We use D365 finance and operation as our ERP system. We use product configurator there. Now We want our customers to have the ability to run the configurator themselves and save the quotes. Does D365 for Sales offer a customer portal to do that?
Hi there, just want to check back in and see if anyone has surfaced D365 FO product configurator to external users? most discussion around this topic is on 2012. We are interested in enable configur-to-order capability on high-value, small volume complex products. Other CPQ solutions do not use the latest D365 product data model, it is ideal if our customers and internal people all use the same configurator.
Seems like potentially expensive licensing (since they would need to be licensed Dynamics users), unless you only have a few customers that buy high value items.

Let me ask about an alternative: create an external user group in F&O with limited permission and visibility and let users directly access F&O ERP to configure and create quotes. What's wrong with that?
No, the CE portal does not surface the F&O Product Configuration. You would either have to build it custom, or use a CPQ tool with a portal option.
