Filter by Account shows deactivated Accounts (except for me)

I have an Opportunity view where the Account is one of the display columns. Users are reporting that when they click on the Account column to filter on it, they see multiples of the same Account. The accounts they are seeing are merged accounts that have been deactivated and don't have any associated Opportunities. The weird part is that I only see one account, the active one. Everyone else sees the multiples. What is going on here? How can we fix it so that the deactivated accounts don't show up in the filter. Thanks.

Through my test, we should see deactived records when we filter lookup columns in the view.

As far as I know there is no way to customize this feature.
Perhaps you can open a ticket with the Microsoft support team to confirm this.

I hope you can mark my answer verified if it answer your question! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

I can think of one option you check the view definition of your current view you are using and what other users are using and then exclude the accounts which are inactive which should help to resolve the issue.

I hope this helped to answer. If this helped pls mark as verified which will help someone else to resolve their issue. Thanks!

We are all using the same system view so it's strange that I only see one account. It's annoying that the default behavior is to show the deactivated accounts in the filter even if there are no Opportunities assigned to the deactivated accounts, but I still can't figure out why I only see one account. I'm a system admin, but another system admin sees the three so I don't think it's something with the role.

I finally figured out why the deactivated accounts were not showing up for me, but were for others. It's because I'm using the New Look. Apparently this removes the deactivated accounts from the filter or at least looks at the dataset returned in the view and doesn't show Accounts that aren't associated with any of the returned Opportunities.
