Sales Order Picking Location Directives x Conversion of Unit of Measures

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

Hi everybody.

I have an Item A that is sold in unit of measure "UN" - Unit, but it can be picked with "Pall" - Pallet, "Box" - Box and "Key" - Keypack. The unit of measure convertions for this item are:

1 Pall = 144.000 UN

1 Box = 3.000 UN

1 Key = 100 UN

1 Pall = 48 Box

1 Box = 30 Key

The Unit Sequence Group for Item A is:

Seq: 1 - Unit: Pall

Seq: 2 - Unit: Box

Seq: 3 - Unit: Key

Seq: 4 - Unit: UN

Location Directives for Sales Order Picking:

Seq: 1 FromQty: 1 ToQty: 999.999 Unit: Pall

Seq: 2 FromQty: 7 ToQty: 999.999 Unit: Box

Seq: 3 FromQty: 1 ToQty: 6 Unit: Box

Seq: 4 FromQty: 1 ToQty: 999.999 Unit: UN

I have a sales order with 18.500 UN of Item A and your inventory has already reserverd. So, it means that picking work should be created to 6 Box + 500 Key. But it's only creating for 18.500 UN.

What's wrong?

Some has already seen this before?

Thank you!

    Hello,

I do not think unit sequence will work for sales picking:

The unit sequence group defines the sequence of units that can be used in warehouse operations. The sequence determines the order of units in which warehouse work is generated and it is applied when work is created for quantities on a purchase order line or transfer order line.

One possibility to have work split down by units is to describe Location Directive lines per unit as described on answer on this post: https://community.dynamics.com/ax/f/33/t/139684

Can you share a screenshot of the location directive, with the 'Box' line selected in the middle grid.

here is location directive setup (box is set up under "restrict by unit", Allow split = yes):

And here is work created (SO qty was 23 pcs, unit conversion 1 box = 20 pcs):

I'm confused. Lauri, you and Marcos work together? Your setup is different. Or are you just showing how you've configured it where it works?

I'll try to respond to Marcos - I think the problem is with that 3rd location directive from 1 to 6 - can you show that configuration here?

You selected to Restrict by Box, I assume, but did you also select to search with the specific Box unit on the line?

I do not work with Marcos. And yes, this is configuration that worked for me. On this setup, all queries are empty.

    Guys,

Here are the answer for my problem:

"Ivan Kashperuk responded on 9 Sep 2014 10:47 AM

You can set up location directives to have 2 lines:

    1. First line would have Restrict by unit = True, and restrict by unit = Box

The action for this line would be the locations you need to pick from

    2. Second line would not restrict by unit, and the action would be from the same locations as above.

This should create 2 pick work lines on the same work header, 1 for 1 Box and 1 for 1 Bag"

I've just made the adjust in line directives location and did work well. See bellow:

Location Directives Lines for Sales Order Picking before with problem:

Seq: 1 FromQty: 1 ToQty: 999.999 Unit: Pall Restrict by unit: no

Seq: 2 FromQty: 7 ToQty: 999.999 Unit: Box Restrict by unit: no

Seq: 3 FromQty: 1 ToQty: 6            Unit: Box Restrict by unit: no

Seq: 4 FromQty: 1 ToQty: 999.999 Unit: UN  Restrict by unit: no

Location Directives Lines for Sales Order Picking after working well:

Seq: 1 FromQty: 1 ToQty: 999.999 Unit: "" Restrict by unit: yes - Unit: Pall

Seq: 2 FromQty: 7 ToQty: 999.999 Unit: "" Restrict by unit: yes - Unit: Box

Seq: 3 FromQty: 1 ToQty: 6            Unit: "" Restrict by unit: yes - Unit: Box

Seq: 4 FromQty: 1 ToQty: 999.999 Unit: ""  Restrict by unit: no

    Thank you all!

Only a doubt: what's the function for field "Unit" in the line of location directives lines?

I imagined the 'Unit' field was the same as 'Restrict by unit', and you would use that if you only wanted to restrict to a single unit.

I thought 'Restrict by unit' was if you wanted to restrict to more than one unit. Hopefully Vanya will tell us!

The unit field is used only for the sake of quantity evaluation.

Meaning based on your locating strategy (which quantity you evaluate against), you will specify the From/To range on Qty in the respective unit. When checking if the loc dir line is applicable, it will do that based on the quantity in the respective unit specified on the loc dir line.

So it does not really have anything to do with the "Restrict by unit" logic
