Sub-project auto numbering

Hi,

 was wondering if anyone new if there was a way to configure AX 2009 (Project module) so that when creating a new sub-project the numbering is not automatic.  I would like to have the ability to change the number in initial sub-project setup form.  It is currently giving me an error that I can only modify the number of the main project. 

Is there a parameter setting somewhere?

    Hi, could you elaborate what is the error.

    By standard Sub-project shall be able to autonumber.

    Yes, autonumbering is what standard DAX does. But he wants to override the default number manually.

    Yes, that is correct.  I am using Sub-projects to represent phases in a project.  1-01-01 1-01-02

     1-01-03

     

    The above is how AX would create the sub-projects.  If I wanted to slot a phase in-between 1-01-01 and 1-01-02 I would have to do a global update to the number system in my project.  My preference would be to override the auto numbering to say:

     

    1-01-01

    1-01-10

    1-01-20

    1-01-30

     

    This way we can easily add additional sub-projects in between the ones that I’ve already created.  If this is possible please let me know or if there is an alternative way to accomplish this.

    Hi

    We are currently completing the blueprint for a new implementation and have a similar requirement for manually setting sub-project numbers.  Our partner recently applied SP1 in an attempt to resolve another issue.  By chance yesterday I attempted to change the suggested sub-project and surprisingly it was accepted.

    It will still attempt to find the next available number when you bring up the new sub-project form.  However you can overwrite the proposed value.

    If anyone from Microsoft is reading this there appears to be a slight problem.  With a format of -## we added sub-project 99.  The next attempt to create a new sub-project errored out as it was trying to set the subproject to 100 which conflicted with the -## format.  Interestingly if an alpha sub project was added xx before the 99 project was added, then the next proposal wrapped round to 01.
