Estimated freight charge not included in credit card authorization

I have defined a fixed 'Estimated freight charge' under Accounts receivable parameters -> Credit card, but this amount is not included when authorizing a credit card from a Sales order (using the Adyen payment services connector).

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Estimated freight is a depreciated feature.

I would be interested in hearing how other people are addressing this issue. The LCS link states that some of the shipping carrier interface functionality was moved to Transportation Management. Can estimated freight be specified somewhere in that module? Does everyone just exclude freight from pre-authorizations?
