Dynamics AX 2009 and SQL Server 2008 R2 SP3 compatibility

Hello,

Last year SQL Server 2008 R2 SP3 has been released. I've tried to find out if it is compatible with Dynamics AX 2009. Does anybody has any clue, or better, any experience with this combination. Now we are running SQL Server 2008 R2 SP2 Ent. Edition and Dynamics AX 2009 Kernel Version 5.0.1500.6450.

Thank you

    Hi,

You can download the AX 2009 Systems requirements to find your answer.

    www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx

Service pack 3 for SQL server 2008 R2 is supported with AX 2009 SP1 with Rollup 8.

Check your version number as this is not mentioned in the details on this page: blogs.msdn.com/.../overview-of-ax-build-numbers.aspx

build 6450 should mean it is before CU8.

    Hi,

thank you for response. I saw this document about sys req. before but there is info about SQL 2008 SP3 not SQL 2008 R2 SP3. Also document is dated to year 2013 so I don't presume there is info about SP released in 2014.

Thanks for link with builds. We installed some KR fix recently so it seems we are somewhere between CU7 and CU8.

    Best Regards

    Rostislav

    HI,

You are right. It is a bit nasty to read with all kind of versions, cumulative updates, service packs etc.  If it is not mentioned, the version is not supported unless you can find another blog from sustained engineering. This does not mean it will not work.

You can check regularly if there are updates on this document.
