License Enforcement

As you all know, Microsoft will begin enforcing their licensing policies this November. I'm currently trying to understand what an Activity license allows a user to do, in order to test it properly. My goal is to create a role that includes all permissions granted by an Activity license—no more, no less.

Is there a way to create such a role? I've tried several approaches, including accessing the License Usage Summary and exporting all Activity privileges to assign them to a role, but none have worked so far. I would really appreciate your help.

I have the same question (0)

Thank you, @André Arnaud de Calavon. That was really helpful. Is there a way to import this Excel sheet to a role through Data Management, or should I do it manually? Would I need technical assistance?

    Hi,

Please find enclosed an Excel sheet with all menu items suitable for Activity. Next to this list, there are menu items tagged for Team members or no license requirement which is not in this list, but accessible by an activity license. That will take more time to generate.
Let me know if this helps you.

    Hi,

This is an interesting question. The Dynamics 365 licensing guide shows for what standard role an Operations-Activity license can be used. To be able to find all menu items allowed to be used with this license, you will need to check all of them one by one. You can also create a customization or Excel overviews to automate this task. At my company, we have some tools, let me check if I can create a list for you.

If you have some environment with version lesser to 10.0.44, you can go to the Security configuration > Create a new role > Add all the available privileges.
Then select that newly created role and click on View permission. At last column you will get the License attached to particular securable object.

From this page, you will be able to see all the kind of privileges with securable objects and its license.

I haven't worked much on changes come after User Security Governance on the license front. Hope you have already read the detailed blogs written by @André Arnaud de Calavon about license enforcement.
