Report Writer - Create New Report and link to screen

Okay, so I've created a new report in report writer and have called it Vendor History.

I'd like to be able to run it from the Vendor Maintenance screen:

But the new report isn't available in the Available Reports list on the Report Assignments screen.

How would I go about adding the new report I've created in Report Writer?

Hi Rich,

When I look at my Available Reports, it shows only SSRS reports. I do not think you can hook up Report Writer reports in that window.

You will need code to run the report.

The simplest solution will be using GP Power Tools. You could add a button with modifier to launch the report, or add it using an additional menu, or hijack the existing print button and ask which report you want before either running your report or the original report.

You can either print for all vendors when window is blank or for selected vendor when window has a value. You could even open a parameter list to ask for the range of vendors to include.

For these kind of requirement small customizations can be done, You can have separate window to print report in ranges/parameters or could also call from the GP window.

Hi Richard,

You cannot attach a built-in GP report written/modified with Report Writer thru this menu.. this is only meant for SSRS reports.

Since Report Writer is a rather primitive report editor, there are multiple other way of replacing it.

Flexible Solutions has an add-on for GP that offers the ability to include all kinds of report sources (SSRS, Crystal, Excel) into any GP window.

It's not very expensive and does work magic.
