Dynamics CRM Device based licensing question

Our company has 27 stores, and each store's staff needs access to Dynamic CRM to create cases. Currently, we have decided to use device-based licensing as staff will need to access the platform on at least two devices per store.

I'm exploring the possibility of assigning a single device-based license to a single account and allowing multiple devices within the store to access Dynamic CRM using that shared account. For instance, if we assign the license to "Store 1", the staff at that store could access the platform using the shared login details for "Store 1" on multiple devices within the store.

As we are still in the implementation phase, with a planned go-live later this year, the licensing cost has exceeded our budget. We are trying to find ways to reduce the cost while still following Microsoft's licensing rules.

Is it within Microsoft licensing rules to use a shared account to access Dynamics CRM on multiple devices if the shared account has a device based license?

I have the same question (0)

    Hey Matt.

As far as I've checked, "Device" licenses are a bit more expensive than regular licenses, but the intended use is exactly the one you're describing.  From the Licensing guide:

According to this, you should be able to have a "Device" (Store1) with a shared login but because of this, you lose tracking options (the login is registered as "Store1" on this example, not as "user1@store1.domain.com" )

RE: Dynamics CRM Device based licensing question

Thanks Daniel, I was just unsure around the wording from the licensing guide and whether many users were able to login using the shared account on multiple devices within the same store OR whether we could only use the shared account to login to one device but any user was able to use the shared account on the device.
