Hello All,
I'm trying to set up Master Planning for a railroad customer to facilitate them replenishing tickets to their ticket windows each month. Some of the tickets are monthly fares, and we set these months up as different styles on those products - e.g. Item 0002 with different styles of January, February, March, etc.
I had initially set up the Minimum and Maximum keys so that orders are only created for the following month when Master Scheduling is run, however this was a little buggy - probably due to my limited master planning knowledge. In any event, they wished to manually select the month (Style) that they will be filling orders for when running Master Scheduling.
Anyone know how to filter to a specific product dimension when running Master Scheduling? In the filter query, I added the Item Coverage and Inventory Dimension tables, then selected the Style field and entered my criteria, however orders for all the other styles are still showing up in my planned orders. Any ideas?
Hi meyerstephen,
I don’t know you business process in detail but you have to think about the situation that in 2 or 3 years you will get transfer orders for July 2020. so you have to delete month by month these old data. It‘s not very comfortable. If I understand your setup right the transfer orders are generated based on minimum stock quantity by style and the reason for the style is the monthly demand of the same item.
Is there an option to solve this topic by using just one item without style but a demand forecast or is the item month by month different? Even if the item is different I suggest to investigate the demand forecast feature instead using the minimum stock.
Hi Christoph, thanks for the response - they're not really taking advantage of the full Master Planning functionality; instead they are just using it to generate transfer orders to refill locations to a preset safety stock. They're not pegging it to production or sales orders.
Since it sounds like we can only run it for the full item, the only thing that seems to makes sense is to delete the extra planned orders each month for the other product variants - would you agree?
Hi meyerstephen
I’m not 100% sure as I do not have AX 2012 available right now to double check it but as I know the MRP running as batch job or out of net requirements will only run for the whole item. Is it an option to generate planned production orders out of the sales line out of the „explosion“ form?
