Depreciation Start Date?

(0) ShareShare

Dear Community,

I have a following doubt regarding depreciation calculation.

We use 'Calculate Depreciation' to find Depreciation in financial statements.

However, the job asks me 'Depreciation Start date' during the process.

So I entered the start date of fiscal year for the purpose.

Even though I acquired the fixed asset during the beginning of half year, the depreciation batch job is calculating depreciation from the beginning of the Fiscal year.

Does this mean that I need to manually update the Depreciation Start date with Acquisition Date?

Or whether any setup missing in this case?

Enlighten please..  :(

When I hit 'F1' in Depreciation Start date, the following came

    "Depreciation Starting Date Field

    See Also

Specifies the date on which you want the depreciation calculation to start.

The program uses this date to calculate the No. of Depreciation Days field for the first depreciation of the asset.

The date is only used if there are no entries other than acquisition cost and salvage value."

Doesn't this mean that if there is acquisition cost, the Depreciation Starting Date is ignored and acquisition date is considered?

    Yes, It is.

If in your case it is not considering the acquisition cost then there is something needs to debug. I found below code writen in NAV

I have not reproduced the case but if you need let me know.

    Hi Jiju,

Can you please check the depreciation starting date on your FA Card? system is considering that particular date for depreciation calculation.

    Let me know.

I put the depreciation starting date as 01-04-2014 (Beginning of Fiscal year)

I know that system is considering that date.

I think the system is not considering 'Acquisition date' for the process.

    Is there anything missing?
