    Hi Pearl,

    Is this a standard AX system or has customization in it? Make sure the application is compiled and CIL is generated without any errors.

    I just tried with minimal set of fields (In your step 8 I haven't selected all fields) and I did work for me in standard AX. Can you please try with selection of few fields first?

    Dear Faisal,

    Thank you for trying the scenario.

    If I just select  few fields (100 fields), there is no error when generate sample file.

    If I select all fields (319 fields), there is error like above.

    Is it the limitations of AX 2012 R3?

    Best regards,

    Johanna

    Hi,

    Are you really going to use all 319 fields? I dont think so that would be the case so please share your business requirement or use it realistically.

    You are right, Faisal. I am not going to use all 319 fields. :p

    I just want to try it and I got that error.  :D

    I am curious whether there is limitation when we generate sample file in DIXF.

    Why there is error when we generate sample file for all fields?

    The output file is xls, isn't it? So, does it means that we can only export 256 fields?

    Why the output file is not xlsx? :D

    Best regards,

    Johanna

    If you are not going to use all 319 fields then select those which you would use please.

    I am not sure about any limitation here. Xls and Xlsx file extension is depend on which version of excel is installed on your machine. For me I am on office 2016 and getting data exported into an excel file with extension .xlsx. You might be on older version. However, this does not limit fields I wonder.

    Please verify answer if it helps you.

    Dear Faisal,

    Thank you for your concern.

    I am using Office 2013.

    I need to change code in "excelFileGeneration" method in "DMFWizard" form so AX will generate sample file in xlsx extension.

    ...

    sysExcelHelper.launchExcel();

    //closed by me sysExcelHelper.save(dmfDefinitionGroupEntityXMLFields.Entity);

    sysExcelHelper.save(dmfDefinitionGroupEntityXMLFields.Entity + '.xlsx'); //added by me

    ...

    I don't know whether is it alright to do this change. But, Now I can generate sample file for 319 fields in xlsx file. :)

    It is strange to know in "version" method in "SysExcelApplication" class, there is no applicationVersion handling for Office2013 (15) and Office2016 (16) as follow.

    public MSOfficeVersion version()

    {

       MSOfficeVersion   ret;

       ;

       switch (applicationVersion)

       {

           case 10.0:

               ret = MSOfficeVersion::OfficeXP;

               break;

           case 12.0:

               ret = MSOfficeVersion::Office2007;

               break;

           default:

               ret = MSOfficeVersion::Office2000;

       }

       return ret;

    }

    Best regards,

    Johanna
