Multicurrency and Smartlists for Sales

Posted on by 22,647

We are trying to build a Sales Tax report for a client that is based on the Sales Tax Schedule, it has to contain the Invoice amount and the Tax Amount.  So that all is pretty straight forward and completed, however, the challenge is the Multicurrency.

We are based in Canada and have sales into the US.

If we want to see the report in Canadian dollars - perfect we are done.  However, for some weird reason, the US Tax has to be reported in US Dollars.  Now that is a challenge.  I can not find the MC values for the transactions in a window where I can add them to the pretty simple SmartList.

What am I missing - I know I should already know the answer - I have been doing this for a long time, but sometimes you are asked something for the first time and have to go 'wth' and then ask the community for help.  So, consider this my 'phone a friend'

Someone out there has done this - I am sure.

    Bill,

If I'd have to make a wild guess (since I don't know which source tables you're pulling in), I'd select the taxable amounts and the tax amounts..

Beat I am using SL Designer and using the tables directly from GP.

What I am reading is that I need to do a little work to make Functional show as Canadian and Originating as US

    What would you suggest?

    Hi Bill,

Technically, when you use MC in GP, the values are stored in both currencies in the sales transaction tables, the Originating and the functional currency..

Is your SL based on a SQL or directly on the GP Tables ?

Thought I should add that I have been working in the SmartList Designer to add any of the MC table data - however - each time it converts all the transactions to the same currency.  In my case the Orginating currency is US and the Reporting / Functional is CAD.  But when I look at all the Smartlists that I am able to manually build - they all report in US dollars - regardless of the Currency ID on the transaction.

Am I missing something?  Do I need to add some modification so it report Orginating Tax and Orginating Sales dollars in US - but also shows the converted amount in CAD.

The client needs to report to the US Tax authority and needs it to be in US and CAD - go figure that they seem to care.
