Why can't I delete a billing rule?

AX 2012 R2 CU7 Project Accounting:

Why can't I delete a billing rule in the Projects module?  It has not been used in invoicing.  I assume this is standard AX design.  There is a delete button on the billing rule form, but it is always grayed out.  I've tried with different types of projects, in different environments (test, dev, sandbox, etc.).    Can anyone enlighten me?

    Hello Howard,

Can this be an issue that is caused because you have insufficient user rights?

I can add and delete billing rules as I like.

Probably double check your role and your user rights.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

Well, I don't think so, I have all sorts of accounting roles, project accounting roles, the security admin role, etc.   I will check in more detail.

Are you using the same version:  AX 2012 R2 CU7?

Hello Howard, I used a AX2012 R3 CU9 machine but will check with a R2 CU7 machine and let you know if I find a difference. Ludwig

    Hello Howard,

I checked whether I can delete a billing rule in an AX2012 R2 CU7 demo machine and it worked fine. The delete button is highlighted in red Color and I can add and delete the rules as I want.

Can you check whether something has been selected in the billing rule for a specific Project (category,...) and try to unselect?

Can you also check if the billing rule is linked to any other Project where it might be used?

The last Thing I could imagine is that somebody implemented a System modification that prevents you from deleting your billing rules. This is something you might Need to check with your System admin.

    All the best,

    Ludwig

I have looked at the roles & privileges. Unfortunately there is not a privilege that pertains only to billing rules.  I have assigned to my user ID the privilege Maintain Project Contracts.  That one is the closest one I can find that MIGHT be related to billing rules, but I can't anything in AX or on the web that tells me how to control the billing rule from a security point of view.

I found it.  I changed AOT names PSAContractLineItems and PSAContractLineSetUpProjCate within the privilege Edit Project Contract from the edit value to the Full Control value.  I logged off AX and logged back on.  Then I could delete the billing rule.  I didn't see this privilege earlier because the search string I was using didn't make a match on the right privilege.

    Thanks!
