(No name) in lookup while setting value using field mapping

Hi ,

While working on QA instance I'm facing one weird issue.

Scenario:

1. With the help of Field mapping (Using Relationship) I'm setting value on on Y entity from X entity.

2. Apart from lookup everything is working fine.

3. It's working on DEV instance but not on QA.(Relationship is already added as well as deployed on QA instance, even I can see field mapping is deployed on QA instance)

4. It's showing (no name) over the lookup

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Pravin,

Its very strange that it works in dev but not on other enviornment.

out for curiosity, kindly check what is the primary field for this entity from entity customization page.

also. kindly verify the mapping again it should not be mapping an id field to the normal field here.

(No name) would show up when Parent entity record primary field does not have data. Check if Parent entity record Primary Field does have the data or not?

    Hi Bipin,

Thanks for your response. There is already value in primary field( as mentioned in query, its working on dev not on QA instance)

    Hi Rawish,

Thanks for your suggestion. Actually, I have imported managed solution on QA instance (including relationship) hence I can see field mapping on QA instance. As mentioned in query everything is same on QA and DEV (Relationship as well as field mapping).

kindly check what is the primary field for this entity from entity customization page - Its already there.

    Hi Pravin,

It's always good to start with the basics, so:

    - It looks like this was done via a fairly recent solution import, so did you 'Publish All Customizations' in QA?

    - Is there any JavaScript code onLoad of the form that might be doing something else in QA?  (If code is setting hardcoded GUID values, that can be a cause when moving across environments.)

    - Are there any workflows that may set/overwrite data?  (When workflows move across environments, GUIDs used in an 'Update Record' step, e.g, don't translate.)

As an aside, and there is some debate, but i personally believe you should never (as a CRM admin) use managed solutions.  You can get into some difficulties if/when you need to delete things from them.  Managed solutions are for ISV's, IMO.

    Hope this helps,

    Dave
