Hi,

I'm having difficulties creating the first page in a new module.
Since the module doesn't have any page, I can't go to that module by clicking the module link and go there.
i just want to create a blank page in a fresh new module. No list page.
Regards,

Hossain

Hi Hossain. I dont believe you can view a module in AX if there isn't at least one menu-item part of it. Furthermore if a user has no access to any menu-items in that module the module will be automatically hidden .

    Hi Jonathan,

    Thanks for reply.

    You are right.

I have a default menu item for that module.

And that menu item has an URL.

In the page definition property of that menu item URL I need to provide a page name.

My query is where would I get the page definition name. As I didn't create the page yet.

Which is going to be blank page. So when user will navigate to that module he would be able to land to that blank page.

So, how would I create that page and how to upload that page to that module as I can't navigate to module yet.

    I have options as below:

    1. I can manually create the .aspx page and bring that to AOT and then upload that page to that module.

    2. I can duplicate an existing blank page and upload to that module.

    3. I navigate to that module and create page using share point(which I usually do).

So, what would be the right way to create that first page.

    Kind Regards,

    Hossain

    Hi Hossain,

All of the three options you are mentioning will do the trick in the end. Indeed, I don't recall AX auto generating the default.aspx page for a new module, as you would expect, but it's been a long time since I created a new module.

What I would do in this case, I think would be option #3. That is: from Home, I would do a View all Site Content, navigate to my new module in the Sites and Workspaces  section, and there I would create a default.aspx (or default_MyModule.aspx), following the standard AX layout. I wouldn't reuse an existing page since the controls might be different.

    Hi Hossain.

I trust somebody with some more experience than myself may comment as well, however I am doubtful that creating a default page will make any difference. Those area pages are entirely different per user i.e. Based on security settings, configuration keys etc...

Can you maybe explain a bit more about the URL on the menuitem that you are referring to?
