How do I release an "S" batch status AP batch?

The batch is suspended and there should be an event log. You might also try Release AP batches screen to release the batch as well. Otherwise I urge you to create a support case for Microsoft dynamics sl for assistance.

Try releasing the batch again and then look at the entry in the Event Log. It will lead you to what the issue is with the batch that is preventing release.
