Error message in Position Duration

Hi,

I am updating 'Activation' and 'Retirement' in Position Duration.

All position IDs are unique right now.

However, I got the error message: Cannot create a record in Position durations (HcmPositionDuration). Insert not supported with the values specified for 'Activation' and 'Retirement'. New record overlaps with multiple existing records.

In some records, I got another error message: Cannot create a record in Position durations (HcmPositionDuration). Invalid value specified for 'Retirement'. It cannot be greater than or equal to the 'Retirement' of the first record.

Has anyone know the cause?

Hi STP,

Can you tell us how you are trying to update these position details? Are you importing records, do you have a custom X++ script, or some other method?

Hi,

Similar problems have been raised before on the forum and solutions have been found, you can refer to these two old threads:

If you are inserting values through code, refer to this link: Solved: Cannot create a record in Addresses (LogisticsPostalAddress). Insert not supported with the values specified for 'Effective:' and 'Expiration:'. New record overlaps with multiple existing records. (dynamics.com)

If you are not, open the related table and delete the record, refer to this link Solved: Cannot create a record in Purchase order history (PurchTableHistory). Insert not supported with the values specified for 'Effective' and 'Expiration'. New record overlaps with multiple existing records (dynamics.com)

Error message in Position Duration

Hi,

This table is valid time state table and you should know to update it, you should specify the ValidTimeStateUpdate value, and also make sure that you don't break the key on the table.

I would recommend that you use the same code of the Activation and retirement buttons from position form on your code.

@Andre, I am working on the data migration. I used Data management to upload 'Position Duration'.

@Kevin, I am not a developer, I used Data management to upload 'Position Duration'. I checked the data through data browser.

All records have ValidFrom and ValidTo, however, the system interface doesn't show the date.

e.g. P-000019 has ValidFrom and ValidTo, however, the user interface doesn't show 'Activation' and 'Retirement'.

Thanks for your reply, STP.

Do you get this error when inserting records where no positions were loaded? Or do you have an issue when updating records (the second time importing a sheet containing changes)?

Import sequence was 'Base position' > 'Position detail' > 'Position duration'.

I got these error message when I imported 'Position duration'.
