Access VAR Layer for merging code

Morning you all,

My vendor told me that they need to access VAR layer on PRODUCTION environment to do code merging and ask me to generate license code for this.

Is it correct or am i misunderstanding? If it is correct could you please show me how to do so and advise if this is the right way to do

    Hi Mark,

    As far as I know recommended way of deployment changes to prod is model store deployment. In this case you don't need VAR layer license code.

    However if you vendor is going to move XPO (that is not recommended way and could lead to multiply issues) you can get it from customer source web site or from you partner.

    Hi ievgen,

    Actually, they will go with XPO.

    Could you show me how to add the license code? will i provide it when setup with AX configuraton Ultility in Development tab?

    Hi Mark,

    You are correct, For Some XPO's we need to deploy in VAR Layer Only. In order to Configure VAR Layer,Please follow below Procedure.

    Go to Start->Administrative Tools->Microsoft Dynamics AX Configuration->you can see configuration utility window

    In that configuration Utility window->In Developer Tab->Change Application Object Layer to Open  Usr to Var and Apply License code which you have->And save that configuration with Var name on your Desktop.
