Purchase invoice :- Our customer requested to have a default value in the Quantity Field whenever a new line is created and the Type is "Fixed Asset" .
Whenever a user selects "Fixed Asset" in the dropdown, a default value of "1" should be inserted in the Quantity field.
Please can you assist on work-arounds. See attached screen short.

    Hi Max,

    Yes, this is easily achievable through a minor customization in Business Central. A developer can add a trigger to automatically set the Quantity field to "1" when the Type = Fixed Asset on a new purchase invoice line.

    I recommend contacting your Microsoft partner to implement this change safely according to best practices.

    You can write Page extension as below to make the change

    pageextension 50100 "PurchLinesExt" extends "Purchase Invoice Subform"
    {
        trigger OnAfterValidate()
        var
            RecRef: RecordRef;
        begin
            if Rec.Type = Rec.Type::"Fixed Asset" then begin
                if Rec.Quantity = 0 then
                    Rec.Quantity := 1;
            end;
        end;
    }

    Thanks
    Ramesh

    You can refer to the standard feature below and make a simple customization. If I have time I'll briefly discuss this as well.
    Business Central 2024 wave 2 (BC25): Use a default quantity of 1 for accounts on documents (Default G/L Account Quantity)

    Thanks.

    Hello,

    There's no out-of-box config for this, so a small AL extension is the cleanest workaround to automate this behavior consistently across users.

    Hi Maxsibs,

    Greetings!!!

    For now there is not any such out of the box solution available to update the default quantity as 1 in the document lines, whenever the user select Type as Fixed Asset.

    A small customized enhancement is required to be developed on the related documents to update the quantity as 1, whenever the user select type as fixed asset in the lines of the related documents.

    I hope it will help you in resolving your concern.

    Best Regards,
    Sheikh Muhammad Jawad
