Form Lookup is not working in AX 7

Hi,

I have created a form in AX7 and used a String control there which is bound to a Data Field of a datasource table. Now I wish to populate the lookup with Names of all the Forms present in UtilElements table.

This is what I did:-

  1. Overridden the lookup method of the particular datafield of the associated form's DataSource.
  2. From there I called a function and wrote the below code there:-

But the problem is no data is being populated in that lookup. Its coming blank.

I will like to mention here that this same piece of code works perfectly in AX 2012. Like the below image.

Why its not working in AX 7? Is there a major change in AX 7 related to lookup? How to fix this issue and make my lookup work in AX 7?

I am new to AX 7 (I guess most of the people here is...). But still if you manage to know the solution, plz share.

Thanks.

Sagnik.

    Ideally this should work unless I am missing something obvious in your solution. Can you do a quick SQL check on your table "UtilElements" to see if there is any data that exists there?

    ... which is what I also told you in DUG forum.

    Please, if you have to duplicate data instead of using a reference, you have to keep them in sync. It's the same for code, physical documents and also for forum threads.

    Hi Martin, I wanted to make sure that this question of mine reaches maximum audiences and hence fetch me maxmum close solutions. That's why I posted the question in both the forums (here & DUG).

    But still I apologize if it doesn't meet the standard requirements of duplicate posting.

    Anshuman, you are right. UtilElements table is blank. Do you know how to load demo data in UtilELements in AX7?

    Let me add the reference for you, as I don't want to waste my time time writing my replies again:

    Here is the parallel discussion on DUG forum.

    As I said on DUG forum, using UtilElements table isn't the right way in AX 7. I suggest you use MetadataSupport class instead, like this:

    var forms = Microsoft.Dynamics.Ax.Xpp.MetadataSupport::FormNames();
    while (forms.MoveNext())
    {
        print forms.Current;
    }
