Create a form to let customers subscribe to a mailing list

Hi All

I'm trying to set up a form (on an external website) that enables customers to subscribe to a mailing list. We recently switched to Dynamics 365 from MailChimp and I'm trying to recreate this simple feature.

I'm running into the following issue:

1. I created the "Subscription List"

2. Next I created a "subscription center type" form attached to that "subscription list"

3. Sub sequentially I created a "Marketing Form Page" to get a 'script' to embed it on an external website

4. I embedded the form on the external website.
Now I run into the problem that if I want to access the page with the embedded subscription form that it does not work because it can't pre-fill the fields. It is apparently only accessible without errors if you follow an unsubscribe link in an e-mail!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Sorry. I lost half a day on this seemingly super simple feature.

I also tried to make another type of form, a landing page, but that creates a contact (not a lead) and I don't see a possibility to automatically add that user to a subscription list.

Can somebody tell me what I'm missing? It really is 1. unnecessarily complex 2. incredible unintuitive.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

A statement can be found in the official documentation about subscription center (Set up a subscription center (Dynamics 365 Marketing) | Microsoft Docs) which says that “The only way a contact can access a subscription center is by clicking a link sent to them in email.”

The mail list you described is called subscription list in Dynamics Marketing, which is a special type of marketing list and can be inserted into a subscription center.

If you’d like to create contacts with a landing page embedded in an external website, you can try to create a flow to achieve this.

For example, here is one of the contacts who is created from a marketing form called Registration.

In the flow, it can be set as - when a record of contact is created, if its Source marketing form is Registration, then add it into a certain marketing list.

If this helped you, I'd appreciate it if you'd mark this as a Verified Answer, which may in turn help others as well.

    Best Regards,

    Nya

That indeed works! Thanks. The ROW-ID in the bound step is the 'ListID' you can extract from the URL if you visit the marketing list in the app. Now all that I need to do is build in a filter so that only form submission from a particular form adds the contact.
