How to hide the "stopped" items

I've items where I've stopped from Purchase, Inventory & Sales. But my colleagues still able to add the particular items to BOM. Is there anyway to hide the item from insertion? Or is there anyway to create alert? Thank you.

    Hi there,

I have the same issue and I don't have a way to prevent this from happening, but it's possible to create an alert based on the item numbers you don't want to see appearing in a BOM.

    ---------------------------

Go to Product information management > Released products > Go into the item master which has a BOM > click the Engineer tab > BOM > Lines.

Then right click into any BOM line of an existing BOM, go for 'Create alert rule'. On the form, set

    Field = "Item number"

    Event = "is set to:"

and specify in the dropdown list on the right hand side the item number you want to prevent from being added to a BOM.

Set the 'Alert me for' to All records (1st option), also tick the 'Show pop-ups' checkbox.

    ---------------------------

This way you will get an alert in the right bottom corner of AX, whenever the specified item is added to a BOM. The downside is that you have to do this for every single item you intend to block. I hope this helps though.

    Kind regards,

    Istvan

    Hi existech,

You can create a security policy where you can restrict e.g. insert the item in BOM lines if the item is stopped. This is done with the Extensible data security (XDS).

See more information about this topic here: technet.microsoft.com/.../hh272862.aspx

    Hi Istvan,

We might be able to improve on that Alert.

Set Field = 'All fields' and choose 'Only records in BOM lines that match the selected filter' and click the 'Select' button. You can right-click on 'BOM lines' and, via n:1, add 'Items' to the query. Then you can right-click on 'Items' and, via 1:n, add 'Item inventory order settings' to the query.

Then in the 'Range' area, click Add. Create a line for Table 'Item inventory order settings' and Field 'Stopped'. Set the 'Criteria' to 'Yes'.

I haven't tested it, but I hope this will give you an Alert when any Item is added to a BOM Line which has the Default Order Setting for 'Inventory' set to stopped.

Knowing how queries work, it will probably give you an Alert if Inventory is Stopped in any Site or Warehouse (and not necessarily the Site on the BOM), but maybe you'll think that's better than creating an Alert for every 'Stopped' item.

    Hi Istvan,

How if the item has not been added to any BOM line? Some items could be not common item, so it'll be added to the Production BOM whenever needed. Any idea whether is it possible to create alert on the item instead of in the BOM?

Besides, am I creating the alert for all users or only one alert will prompt everyone?

Thanks so much for your replied.

    Hi Andre,

Have downloaded the paper, will go through and check with the support here.

    Thanks so much.

    Hi Guy,

thanks for this. I tested it this morning, and it indeed works, I don't have to specify the item code, I receive an alert when a stopped item is added to a BOM. That's perfect, spares me a lot of time and makes alerts a bit more transparent.

    Thanks again!

there can be another way but expensive as that needs customization

-create a new setup, where all blocked item will be listed

-use NotExist Join with this new steup in lookups, so user will not see any blocked items.

    Hello,

you don't have to have the item in your BOM to be able to set up an alert, you can click on any existing BOM line, and specify the item later in the alert creation form, for which you want to have the alert. I'd like to call your attention to Guy Terry's solution in this thread (26 May 2015 4:25 PM), that works better if you don't want to create the alert every time you have a new 'stopped' item.

To my knowledge, alerts can be set up for a single user only, unless you go for customizing the system. You can work around this by creating the same alert multiple times but for different users, by adding their email address as the recipient.

Create a FILTER for the items on the Grid/Lookup selection. Depending on their stop status in the InventTableModule

    Hi Guy,

Thanks. For temporarily, I'll use this way, but for long run, customization might be the only way.
