Unified Interface on Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Dynamics GP

Is it true that Microsoft Dynamics GP is not part of the Dynamics 365 “family”.  And therefore the only browser accessible interface for Dynamics GP would be the GP Web Client.  AND Microsoft's requirement for everyone to move to the Unified Interface on Microsoft Dynamics 365 DOES NOT APPLY TO Dynamics GP?

We have a government client who is asking us to schedule an upgrade to Unified Interface for Dynamics GP and we think this makes no sense.

    Microsoft Dynamics GP is a product that was created 30 years ago. Dynamics 365 is Microsoft's Shiny new object. There is no requirement to move to

    Unified Interface on Microsoft Dynamics 365 unless you want to be compatible with that platform. I have heard about them coming out with migration tools to get to DYN 365 from GP. I would check with a DYN 365 reseller who has done migrations.

    Hello Clark,

    As Richard mentioned, GP was designed and created many decades ago. Although it is still under active development, it is unlikely to be under the Unified Interface anytime soon.

    I am not aware of any requirements for Dynamics GP users to move to any other interfaces.

    That said, Business Central (NAV) and Finance and Operations (AX) fall under the Dynamics 365 banner, and both should have the Unified Interface. There is an in-depth tool for moving from GP to BC, which you can read about here:

    Very helpful. Thanks!

    I also heard from another Dynamics consultant who said:

    The transition to the unified interface only applies to Dynamics 365 “Customer Engagement” aka CRM (Customer Relationship Management) applications.

     The Unified Interface DOES NOT apply to;

    • Dynamics GP
    • Dynamics 365 Business Central
    • Dynamics 365 F&O (Supply Chain Management or whatever its called these days…)

    Furthermore, the transition to the Unified Interface is also only applicable to “online” Dynamics 365 (Customer Engagement) apps.  On-premises can keep using existing interfaces.
