Customization not sticking after solution import

Posted on by 4

We're having an issue where a specific customization change from a managed solution import is not "sticking" in production. The change is specifically adding a new option to an existing option set. We have pushed it through our system test and UAT environments which have had no issues, but when we bring it into production, the change appears to be there and working, but the next day the extra option in the option set suddenly is no longer showing up in the forms or advanced find.

When we imported the managed solution the first time around, we kept the default options of "don't overwrite customizations" as its all managed solutions in the environment. When it was not successful the first time, we re-imported the same solution version but this time selected "overwrite customizations". This appeared to work, but the next day we noticed it regressed. So we tried cloning a newer version in our dev environment, exporting as manged, then imported it into the environments, selecting "overwrite customizations", with the same result. Out of all the changes we made it is the only piece that is not sticking, all our other new/changed customizations were reflected.

A bit unsure how to approach this next as we cannot reproduce the behavior in other non-prod environments, and its very strange that the changes appear to be reflected for some time but don't stick. Any ideas on what would cause this type of regression?

We are running Dynamics 365 v8.2 on-premises.

Thanks,

Chris

RE: Customization not sticking after solution import

    Hello ,

I hope you re doing fine.

I think that it is better to have a ticket with Microsoft to have a look at the issue.

Probably the issue is on the Database level to check what is the layer when you are importing the solution with the changes, we will need more information.

Is the issue happen after any specific operation on the Production? How long the issue appears? 1 day after or some minutes ?
