When setting up a retail store does the warehouse need to be the same as the shipping warehouse?

If it doesn't need the warehouses to be the same when an inquiry about on-hand stock is carried out on a till will it show the total on-hand between the 2 warehouses (e.g. warehouse=warehouse A and shipping warehouse=warehouse B when the inquiry is carried out it shows 10 on-hand as there is 6 in warehouse A and 4 in warehouse B)

Hi Harold,

Have you noticed this behavior (Inventory lookup sum up the On-hand from both WH) or are you asking what the behavior would be?

I'm asking because I haven't noticed this scenario. POS only shows the On-hand from the WH attached to the Store (it simply ignores the shipping warehouse).

i'm asking because i want to know what would happen if they were two different warehouses if it does ignore the shipping warehouse why have that setting?

Hi,

Shipping warehouse currently is only during changes for Create Customer order function in POS, so with mode of delivery picked for shipping the newly created Sales order will have Shipping warehouse.

The Inventory lookup operation in the POS looks only to the main warehouse.
