Custom data entity not showing in data management

Hi!

I've duplicated a OOTB data entity, customized it with a new data source, added the fields I needed. Just to be clear, I did not extend the existing data entity. I created the staging table and security privileges. Full compile and database synced. Then refreshed the data management data entities. Still my data entity is not showing. The data management properties on the entity are set to "yes" and my staging table. Also worth mentioning is that I'm on 8.0 platform. Have I missed a step or overlooked something? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

So in your project you have a data entity, security privileges for maintain and view and 2 tables: the target one and the staging one.

Have you tried to add the entity manually to the data management workspace?  According to the PACKT online development cookbook, you should have the above elements in your project and then you need to add it. Page 279 point 7: "Now we need to add this entity in the data management work space. Navigate to Work space | Data management | Data entities. Add a new record as follows and save it. Now click on Validate". The screen print is of the target entities page where you can click on New.

    Hi ichiban,

In my case, to show data entity in Data management was to set it as Public and set Public collection name and Public entity name.

Hope this would be your help.

    Best regards, Mai

    Hi ichiban,

If you copy a data entity, make sure you change the next properties to have unique values:

    - label

    - public collection name

    - public entity name

For data management, the property data management enabled must be set to yes. IsPublic is used for OData.

Why did you choose to copy the entity? Did you already try to extend the standard one? If so, did you encounter some issues?

Hello, sorry for the delay. So eventually, I ran data entity refresh function again, then it showed up. Thank you for all your suggestions.

Andre, to answer your question. We're duplicating the entity because we're concerned at some later point down the road with another application update we may be exposed to another version which will cause issues. We understand it will still mean we have some work to integrate any changes we want to flow to our entity.
