So whats preventing the JS from running properly in Outlook?

Ok, we've had CRM 2013 in place for a week or so now..and it strikes me that within the outlook client, all of our script error problems, are occuring when the form is using javascript, to display associated views, for instance the stakeholders in opportunities, or the e-mail attachments in e-mail activities. The only way to recover is to close outlook and reopen it.

But these all work fine in IE. Ergo the issue has to be some sort of security update that's knackered some sort of javascript permission in outlook.

Does anyone know what security update that might be?

We've done all the usual stuff, disabled lync integration, cleared out %temp%, reset IE, cleared out internet history & the problem persists.

Ladies and Gentlemen I  would love your thoughts!

Nothing springs to mind - but if outlook has been configured using a different url to that registered in crm's config and you are using getServerUrl and not getClientUrl you will get access denied errors. Check the url outlook is connecting to is the same as your web client.

    Hi Alex,

It could be related to the separate Forms process used by Outlook.

In previous versions of the outlook client AND the webclient, everything runs in a single Windows Process. (iexplorer.exe / outlook.exe)

In the new client they separated it to a separate process (......WebForms.exe - don't remember exact name, see taskmanager).

Also check the DOM using F12 if possible, maybe there is a difference in some of the modes...

    Good luck,

    Hi Alex,

does the issue affect all the user and client machine or particular one(s) only? In addition to Remon's suggestions, I would recommend you as first thing to run the CRM 2013 Custom Code Validation Tool for the affected organization, if not yet done.

The tool is designed to scan client side scripts (onLoad, onChange, onSave events) to detect code pieces using unsupported methods in CRM 2013. You can download it at

www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx and find more information about it for example in the following blog articles:

    1) blogs.msdn.com/.../check-your-javascript-code-to-prepare-for-your-upgrade.aspx

    2) blogs.msdn.com/.../legacy-feature-check-and-custom-code-validation-tool-demos-for-upgrade-to-crm-2013.aspx

In addition, please check if the “Show add-in user interface errors” Outlook is enabled (in Outlook go to File > Outlook Options > Advanced> Developers) and disable this if so.

Please let us know if this helps.
