Hi

For each operation in the route, we can configure the route type as "Standard" or "Vendor", From the process point of view, is there any difference between these two configurations?

Thanks

William

    Hi Jianrui,

If there was no difference, the option was not provided. ;)

If the operation is internally, you can select standard. If a third party is involved in the manufacturing process to perform one or more operations, you use Vendor.

You can read more on this page: technet.microsoft.com/.../aa572676.aspx

    Hi Andre,

Thanks for you reply. Literally, i know that the vendor should be involved when i configure the route type as vendor.

Does it mean we have to involve the vendor into the AX manufacturing process ? or it's just a conceptual vendor process?

(I think the specification from Microsoft official website is very generic, or i don't have enough experience on it)

    Thanks.

    Hi,

It is just for administration purposes. You don't give access to the vendor to perform opertions in AX. When there is a vendor type, you know you will receive an invoice for these operations.

Sometimes the vendor will come to your site and do the needed operations. In other cases the goods are transferred to a vendor location; he does his operations and sends the goods back.

It is also used in the sub-contracting elements to generate service purchase orders when operations are outsourced.

    Hi Weaveriski

The purchase order is generated base on the BOM line type i think, Does it mean that i should configure the operation route type as vendor when i configure the BOM line type as a vendor ?

    Thanks.

    HI Andre

Is it possible to monitor the goods that transferred to the vendor location in the AX system ?

    Thanks

If you want the route to represent the work the vendor does to build in lead times and costs in addition to the PO then yes, but it depends what you want to do with the route.

To answer the question you posed to Andre your BOM can withdraw from a vendor warehouse with planning pushing from your stores to the vendor, so yes you can configure it to monitor the goods at the vendor warehouse.
