Converting SSRS rdl report to D365 report

I have multiple ssrs reports in rdl extension which I need to recreate on D365. Is it possible to convert them into a D365 report? I do understand that it will be impossible to convert the datasets but I need to see if it will be possible to copy the report design and then update the datasets. I have tried adding the rdl report to AOT but that didn't work. I even tried opening both designers and copying/pasting the design but that too didn't work. Any help much appreciated.

Regards,
George

You can use the code upgrade tool to upgrade your modelstore. This way the reports and classes should be possible to bring to D365.

You can merge only the reports and related classes from the upgraded code to your active D365 codebase.

I assume that copying parts of RDL code should work, but it might be tricky.

    In the following blog, www.netwoven.com/.../

You will find a section Build and Publish the Report, under that you will find steps to Import the RDL file in Dynamics 365

The copy paste option should work , when we did migration from AX 2012 most of the report designs we copied  to d365 by opening both designers.

Be aware that Anrini's link isn't about Dynamics 365 Finance. It's about former Dynamics CRM.

    Hi Arini,

As Martin mentioned, this doesn't work in D365 F&O. When I try adding the existing rdl report to my solution, I am getting an error message as follows: "The following files are not valid metadata elements. They were not added to the project".

I was able to solve it. The problem was that I was opening the RDL report in Report Builder and trying to copy past from Report Builder into an F&O solution. When I opened the RDL report in SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio, I was able to copy paste the report.

Indeed this was the solution. I was facing the same problem.

    Thank you George.
