Hi,
I configure virtual entities in D365 HR as per the official guide. Now my question is I want to develop a customized report in power bi desktop using dataverse but those virtual entities are not available, how can I access the available virtual entities of HR via dataverse in power bi desktop.
Thanks,
Muhammad Saad Rafiq.
Hi Muhammad,
Are the normal entities available? Have you checked if the virtual entities are available in e.g. Power Automate or Power Apps?
Hi André,
Yes native entities are available in the list dataverse when fetching at power bi . I have created a power automate with one virtual entity so yeah virtual entities available there.
Regards,
Muhammad Saad Rafiq
If virtual entities are enabled in Dataverse then you can find them with prefix mshr_ when accessing through Power BI.
When you click on Get data in Power BI and provide Dataverse environment then can you please search for mshr in the search box?
Can you please share some screenshots?
I just tested with the New Dataverse connector in Power BI and It seems the Virtual entity is not visible However I tried with the Common data service(Legacy) old connector and I can see Virtual entity.
It strange virtual entity is not visible in Power BI with a new Dataverse connector.
Hi Parag,
I can't able to connect with the CDS(Legacy) connector don't know why this is happening, but I want to ask a question is this a good approach to use 2 different connectors Dataverse for native tables and CDS for virtual tables? because CDS(Legacy) doesn't give us the direct query approach.
No, You should not use two different connectors. It's quite strange for me.
If you share the steps you followed then I can help you.
Sorry for late response now I am getting the list of virtual entities via CDS(Legacy) connector, it doesn't give us direct query approach as Dataverse gives us so should i go with 2 different connectors Dataverse for native tables and CDS for virtual tables or recreate the report with CDS(legacy)?
We should use only the Dataverse connector, however, we are not getting virtual entities using this connector. This is already a bug and I posted it on the Yammer group for my clients too. Microsoft is working on this to solve the issue.
Can you provide an update, the problem still seems to be going on ?
Hi Remy,
I don't have any update on this. I raised this issue with Microsoft last monthand they are working on this.
