Access the Virtual Entities via Dataverse in Power Bi.

Posted on by 70

Hi,

I configure virtual entities in D365 HR as per the official guide. Now my question is I want to develop a customized report in power bi desktop using dataverse but those virtual entities are not available, how can I access the available virtual entities of HR via dataverse in power bi desktop.

Thanks,

Muhammad Saad Rafiq.

    Hi Meenaskshi,

The only drawback with legacy connector is it doesn't work sometimes.

I am also having similar requirement so thought to use DataVerse and Cds both connector in report.  Parag Chapre  what is impact if we use both in single  report?

Hi, I am facing the same issue. I cannot see my D365 Virtual entities in power bi. @Parag Chapre did you get feedback from Microsoft?

    Hi Powerperson,

In F&O, you can directly use Entity store with all the entities. If you want to use dataverse then I guess it will be the same connector in F&O/  HR and we need to wait until an update from Microsoft.  I will check with the concerned person on my Yammer post.

hi, just wondering if Microsoft came back with any sort of answer on this, specifically seeing FSCM visible virtual entity with a mserp_ prefix used in powerapps (as per above) but to see them in PowerBI, just wondering.

    Thanks

    Hi Remy,

I don't have any update on this. I raised this issue with Microsoft last monthand they are working on this.

    Hi Muhammad,

We should use only the Dataverse connector, however, we are not getting virtual entities using this connector. This is already a bug and I posted it on the Yammer group for my clients too. Microsoft is working on this to solve the issue.

    Hi Parag,

Sorry for late response now I am getting the list of virtual entities via CDS(Legacy) connector, it doesn't give us direct query approach as Dataverse gives us so should i go with 2 different connectors Dataverse for native tables and CDS for virtual tables or recreate the report with CDS(legacy)?

    Regards,

    Muhammad Saad Rafiq

    Hi Muhammad,

No, You should not use two different connectors. It's quite strange for me.

If you share the steps you followed then I can help you.
