What is the function / Feature of this Home Module

This thread focuses mainly on the home module and I would suggest to not mix topics here.

Hi Sriram,
These are shortcuts / alternative menu items that you can directly when you open AX2012.
Rather than having to navigate to the different modules, the home page provides you an option for a single "one-stop" site that can help you arranging your daily work.

All of them are quite large structures on their own, instead of explaining them one by one, let me explain them through "case".
"You can use case management in Microsoft Dynamics AX and in Enterprise Portal for Microsoft Dynamics AX to record, update, track, follow up on, and close issues that are raised by your customers, vendors, or workers, or that are created through your audit processes."
"Because you can use case management for customer, vendor, or worker issues, the Cases form is located in Home in Microsoft Dynamics AX. Audit cases are always managed in Compliance and internal controls, even when they relate to documents that are created in other modules."

The situation is not much different in Time and attendance, activities, Questions. You can see similar menus in more than one module, you need to use the menus in home for common use.

In my opinion the main purpose is providing users with a starting page for their daily work that gives them the most important tasks and data they need at a glance.
This requires making use of role centers.
The following link gives you an example how they can be set up and how they home page can look like if you open AX.
