Hello All

In  the Dynamics PSA module, there is a optionset field named as "Project Status". Same in the Project Task form there is a optionset field named as "Task Status".

User will ONLY update task status where as project status field should work based on the below condition which shows in the picture.

I already have tried with Workflow, it is working only 1 to 1 and not working with the condition.

Please help - Regards / Faisal

    Hi Syed,

Yes, there are great documentation and tutorials on how to create custom plug-ins for Dynamics 365 CE. If you're familiar with .NET, then writing a custom plug-in (specially one that implements the business requirement you describe in your post) should be not difficult at all.

Please refer to these public documents:

Use plug-ins to extend business processes

    docs.microsoft.com/.../plug-ins

    Write a plug-in

    docs.microsoft.com/.../write-plug-in

Tutorial: Write and register a plug-in

    docs.microsoft.com/.../tutorial-write-plug-in

    I hope it helps!

    Thanks

    Hi Syed,

This feature can be easily implemented with a custom plug-in registered on the Create/Update/SetState messages for the Project Task entity. When one of those operations take place, the plug-in should query the Project Tasks to determine the correct status to set on the Project record.

The downside of such an approach is that it will require some development effort. I don't see a way of implementing this feature with native workflows or business rules.
